We have now performed thirteen pantomimes in the village hall in Bishopthorpe (see here) which is conveniently located almost next door to the pub! There are some 40 people on our members' list - made up of 'actors', stage crew, costume people, the list goes on. We're always on the look-out for new members (especially men!!) and you need no previous experience at all - full training will be attempted to be given! See our join page for more details
We take what we do very seriously (or as seriously as our limited talent and budget permits!!) and hire professional costumes, sound and lighting equipment.
Rehearsals generally commence in mid-September on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday Evenings, right through to the show in early December.
The final week is often fraught with technical difficulties, as that's when the sound and lighting equipment gets installed. The upstairs room of the hall gets taken over as a (mixed!) dressing room and generally a party spirit prevails throughout the four night run.
A last night party on the Saturday goes on until the early hours, with singing and dancing by all concerned.
